<p>So lately I have been freeing up some time to practice playing the guitar. Over the last ten years, I have averaged about an hour a day playing, but keeping it more of a fun thing to do with the occasional creation of a song. Now, I&#8217;ve started putting myself to the grindstone and doing all of the exercises I used to do when I first started, by going through <a title="The Exercise Book" href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/0825835658?tag=graticle-20&amp;camp=0&amp;creative=0&amp;linkCode=as1&amp;creativeASIN=0825835658&amp;adid=0V13J0SEXGVF93DX0JWN&amp;" target="_blank">The Exercise Book</a>. So yes, scales galore (as you can see above). This time it&#8217;s actually a lot more fun<span id="more-29"></span> though, because it is really increasing my knowledge and love of music. I was telling it friend that it&#8217;s weird because I&#8217;ve always just played what sounded good, rather than looking into what I was playing &#8212; Now I&#8217;m counting the notes as I go through them and pushing my skill (or lack of) to the limit.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s been a fun experience and although my fingers are getting sore again (it&#8217;s been at least 9 years since that&#8217;s happened) I&#8217;m pushing myself to become better which is ultimately making myself feel a whole lot better at the end of the day.</p>
